This high-altitude fishing adventure takes place in a region famous not only for its pristine rivers and hidden lagoons but also for one of Ecuador’s most fascinating legends. According to historical accountsand local stories, the mountains of Llanganates are believed to hide the lost treasure of the last Inca ruler, Atahualpa. For centuries explorers have searched this mysterious area known for its ruggedterrain, dense mountain ecosystems and unexplored valleys. 

The experience begins early in the morning with a 4x4 drive from Baños toward the Triunfo mountain area. From there, travelers begin a scenic hike of approximately two to three hours through highAndean landscapes. 

During the hike visitors explore mountain trails, cross rivers, walk near wetlands and discover natural lagoons while searching for the best fishing spots where trout thrive in cold crystal-clear waters.

Departure From Baños

The tour begins at 7:00 am with departure from the meeting point chosen by the traveler in Baños. 

Travelers leave the city in a 4x4 vehicle and drive through scenic mountain roads toward the Triunfo region located near the entrance area of Llanganates National Park. 

During the drive it is possible to observe rural landscapes, forests and agricultural areas typical of the Andean highlands. 

Traditional Mountain Breakfast 

Upon arrival to the mountain community, travelers enjoy a traditional breakfast prepared with fresh local products.
