This tour is designed for nature lovers, photographers, and travelers who want to observe birds in their natural habitat, along off-the-beaten-path trails away from conventional tourist routes. Baños lies within the area of influence of Parque Nacional Llanganates and Parque Nacional Sangay, allowing sightings of Central Andean species and Amazonian transition birds in the same region.

ITINERARY 

Departure from Baños de Agua Santa 
(Pick-up at hotel, hostel, or previously agreed meeting point) 

Transfer to the selected trail of the day, located in strategic areas of montane forest and Andean-Amazonian transition ecosystems. 

Beginning of birdwatching 

Guided hike through natural trails for approximately 3 – 4 hours. 
The pace adapts to the group and bird activity. 

During the hike, the guide will explain: 

Central Andean bird species 
Amazonian transition birds 
Behavior and habitat 
Ecological importance of the nearby national parks 
Basic responsible birdwatching techniques 

The terrain may include muddy and humid sections, especially during the rainy season. 

Homemade Ecuadorian breakfast 

After birdwatching, enjoy a traditional homemade breakfast prepared by local community members — perfect to recharge after the early morning experience. 

Return to Baños de Agua Santa 

Transfer back to the starting point. 

NOTE: 
Birdwatching depends directly on weather conditions. In case of heavy rain, the activity may be canceled the same day and rescheduled.  

Alternatively, you may consult with the guide about conducting an afternoon or early evening birdwatching session, when many birds return to their nests.
