This Cotopaxi climb from Quito is designed for climbers with good physical condition and prior altitude experience who want a real high-altitude mountaineering and glacier climbing experience in theEcuadorian Andes.
The expedition combines acclimatization, glacier training, and summit push, all within the stunning Cotopaxi National Park, surrounded by páramo landscapes, glaciers, and Andean wildlife.
Our certified mountain guides ensure safety, proper technique, and full support throughout the expedition, allowing you to focus on reaching the summit with confidence.

DAY 1 | QUITO – GEAR FITTING – REFUGE – GLACIER TRAINING
Altitude: 4,864 m / 15,958 ft

Departure from Quito towards Cotopaxi National Park.

Before heading to the mountain, participants will complete a gear fitting session at our equipment warehouse, where we check:

On the morning of Day 1 before departure from Quito
This ensures maximum comfort, safety, and performance during the climb.
Arrival at the parking area (4,800 m) followed by a 30–45 minute hike to José Rivas Refuge.

DAY 2 | COTOPAXI SUMMIT PUSH
Maximum altitude: 5,897 m / 19,347 ft
Temperature: down to -10 °C / 14 °F
Wake-up at 11:30 PM and departure around midnight.
The climb takes place on glacier terrain with steady slopes and technical sections. Climbers move roped together using crampons and ice axes, navigating snow and ice formations.
After 6–7 hours, you reach the summit of Cotopaxi Volcano, where you can admire the active crater and breathtaking views of the Andes.
Descent:
Return to the refuge
Short rest and hot meal
Transfer back to Quito

The Cotopaxi climb is a high-altitude glacier expedition with extreme weather conditions and technical terrain.
Previous experience above 5,000 m and proper acclimatization are strongly recommended.
